FAQs — Cello Acres
What is Cello Acres?
Cello Acres is our family homestead in Rhode Island. It’s a simple, faith-anchored, family-first place where kids play outside, parents exhale, and neighbors become community. Summer Sundays is our open-gate weekly gathering that makes all of that easy.
What exactly is Summer Sundays?
A low-pressure, come-and-go Sunday hang for families. Kids outside, simple snacks, real conversation—no RSVP required. If you don’t see a cancellation, assume we’re on.
When does it happen?
Sundays, 1–5pm. Come whenever; leave whenever. If things are flowing, we may go past 5.
How do I know if it’s on this week?
Check the “Next Date” at the top of the Summer Sundays page. If there’s no cancellation on the site/announcement bar, FB, or via text, it’s happening.
Where is it?
At Cello Acres (address will be personally shared and not posted online for OPSEC reasons). Drive slowly when you arrive!—kids and chickens share the space.
Is this a drop-off?
No. Parents/guardians remain responsible for their kids at all times—yard, pool, animals, and fire pit included.
What should we bring?
Optional but helpful:
Water bottles, picnic blanket or camp chairs
A snack to share (banana bread, fruit bowl, chips, iced tea, etc.)
Towels and a change of clothes for littles
Yard toys/ball (please label your things)
If this week is tight—time or budget—come empty-handed. You’re still welcome.
Is there a pool?
Yes—summer perk! We have an above-ground, 12' diameter, 30" deep, salt-water pool for splashing.
Bring bathing suits, towels, and (for little ones) swim diapers.
Safety: no diving, no roughhousing; non-swimmers use floaties/life vests; keep the ladder area clear; an adult must be actively watching children in/near the water at all times.
Are there animals?
We keep chickens. Kids can say hi! Wash hands after visiting the coop.
Do you do a fire?
Weather/wind permitting, we might light a late-afternoon fire to relax or roast marshmallows.
We’ll have a few sticks; bring marshmallows/chocolate/graham crackers if you want s’mores.
Keep a safe distance; no throwing items into the fire.
What’s the food situation?
Shared table: bring something if you can; if not, still come.
Please label common allergens (nuts, dairy, eggs, gluten).
We’'ll have basic foods, snacks, and drinks on hand.
the more people bring, the greater the stockpile for future Sundays!
What about weather?
We’re outdoors-first. Light rain? We may still hang. Heavy rain, thunder, or poor conditions = likely cancellation. Check the site for last-minute calls.
Is it free?
Yes. No fees, no tickets. Show up, pitch in if you can, enjoy.
Do I need to RSVP?
No, but feel free to give us a heads up if you want!. I highly recommend you sign up for updates on the site—helpful for weather calls and quick notices.
Can I invite friends?
Please do—families who’d appreciate the vibe are welcome. Share the Summer Sundays link.
Are babies/toddlers/teens okay?
All ages are welcome. Every parent becomes a de-facto supervisor for all the kids there. The more the better. That’s what makes this so special. The more parents there, the more than can help each other, the more kids there, themo
Is the property accessible?
It’s a working homestead—grass, dirt, and uneven ground. Strollers really don’t work here, highly recommend baby carriers instead. If you have specific accessibility needs, reach out via Contact and we’ll do our best.
Are restrooms available?
Yes—indoor restroom available. We can set up a quick changing space as needed.
What should kids wear?
Clothes and shoes for outdoor play (and getting dirty). In warm months: suits/towels; in cooler months: layers/coats.
What are the house norms?
Drive slowly; close gates you open.
Be kind to animals and the land.
No glass around the pool.
Please ask before bringing pets (chickens + littles don’t mix well).
Photos & privacy?
We try to keep it present and kid-forward. If you take photos, ask before posting identifiable shots of other families/kids.
Health & wellness?
If someone in your household is sick or just getting over something contagious, sit this one out and join us next time.
Safety & liability?
By attending, you acknowledge the inherent risks of outdoor play, a working homestead, a pool, and a fire pit. We keep a basic first-aid kit on hand.
Parking?
Park in the driveway/marked areas. If it’s crowded, follow any signs or day-of notes on the site/text.
Can we bring alcohol?
Of course! We keep the vibe family-forward though, so ideally we’re not wild ‘n out here.
Can I host a birthday or special celebration here?
Chat with us first via Contact, email, and phone is you have our number. The weekly rhythm is communal and simple; we want to keep it that way, but we’re open to thoughtful ideas that fit the spirit.
Can we help out?
Yes—light help with setup/cleanup is appreciated (chairs, trash, s’mores, firewood). If you want to volunteer a simple activity (storytime, nature walk, yard game), send us a note.
Lost & found?
Label your stuff. We’ll keep a small lost & found bin by the exit for a week or two.
Is this a religious event?
Our family’s Catholic faith shapes the way we host—hospitality, truth, grace. All are welcome. We may occasionally share a brief word of thanks for the wonderful life we have all been given; but there is absolutely no religious pressure or program.
How can I stay in the loop?
Use the sign-up form on the site for weekly reminders, weather notices, and any last-minute updates.
